New Year – 2014

Hello, everyone! I’d like to wish you and your family a happy and safe new year in 2014. Between finishing out a hectic semester of college in December, followed by a relaxing two-week vacation in south Florida, I’ve stepped back from freelancing over the past couple months. However, in the new year I’d like to return to editing as before! Just finished your manuscript and want it edited before you send it off to publishers? Want me to look over an article or blog post? Please don’t hesitate to send me an email at vashockl@ncsu.edu. The same goes for any writing needs, whether it be an article, guest post, etc. Looking forward to hearing from you!

On a side note, I would like to get more publicity for my work and brand name. If you or someone you know would like to interview me, please let me know. Thank you!

End of Summer

To all of my clients (past, present, and future!) and others who follow this blog, I hope you had a safe and relaxing summer. I know I did! Having taken a couple of vacations, I’ve been stepping back from freelancing this summer, but with fall approaching I’m getting back into it full swing. If you need something written (guest post, article, etc.) or have a manuscript (fiction or nonfiction, any genre), article, blog post, or anything else that you’d like me to proofread or edit, send me an email at vashockl@ncsu.edu. I should get back to you within 24 hours or less.

Also, to all of the new followers of my site, thank you! I have reached 2,528 total views and 33 comments – let’s keep those numbers rising! If you know someone who’d be interested in my work, please direct them here. Thanks, everyone!

Checking In

Hi there! It’s been awhile since I’ve written a post, but I thought now would be a good time to check in with all of my clients (past, current, and future!) to let you know I’m still active in my freelance business, despite the fact that I don’t use this site as a blog. :) To those who have so kindly followed my site, thank you so much! I have reached roughly 2,100 total views, and I hope that number keeps rising.

As always, I’m open to new projects, whether they’re for writing, editing, or proofreading. Send me an email at vashockl@ncsu.edu if you have something for me! I also have some new articles posted to my Work Samples page, so check those out if you’re interested. Thanks, everyone!

Happy Holidays

I just wanted to write a short post wishing all of my clients (past, current, and future!) a happy holiday season and a safe new year. I also thought adding a new post would be an easy way to let everyone, including those who have so kindly followed my blog (thank you!), know that I’m open to new projects, whether they be editing, proofreading, or writing related. Just send me an email at vashockl@ncsu.edu – I should get back to you within 24 hours. I’ve also noticed that I’m up to 828 total views to this blog/website – wow! While that’s a good number, I’d love to get the word out to more people, so if you know someone who has an editing or writing project, please direct them here. Thanks, everyone!

Welcome!

Hi there! My name is Victoria Shockley, and I would love to help you with writing, editing, or proofreading.

I am…
Ambitious
Self-motivated
Comfortable working remotely or on-site
Attentive to details
Open to all genres

Careful and precise when editing

I can…
Work with tight deadlines
Understand clients’ budget limitations

Communicate clearly
Direct my writing toward a variety of audiences

Currently I’m a rising junior at North Carolina State University, with a major in English and a minor in French. I’m taking extra courses in order to graduate a year early (May of 2014) and continue on to graduate school. Ultimately I’m planning to pursue a career in professional writing or editing. For the spring semester of 2012, I made the top 9% of the freshmen class in GPA, and also ranked #5 out of the 47 other English majors in terms of GPA. For the fall semester of 2012, I moved up to the top 8% of the sophomore class, and held my position at #5 out of 72 other English majors. I was also chosen as the College of Humanities & Social Sciences Student of the Month for January. In January, I was accepted into the English Honors Program, reserved for only the most highly motivated students.

I’m open to many different types of assignments for writing, editing, and proofreading. I have experience with both nonfiction and fiction, including children’s books, historical fiction, sci-fi, and other genres. If would like to contact me for more information or for a quote on your project, just email me at vashockl@ncsu.edu. Thank you so much for your interest, and I hope to hear from you soon!
